Saturdays (SF/OAK)

Registration for the Saturday league for 2011 Fall is now underway.
WE NOW HAVE A LEAGUE IN BOTH SAN FRANCISCO AND OAKLAND!!!

The roadmaps, schedule, and stats from last season’s Saturday League in SF are now available using the League Navigator in the righthand sidebar.

This season will be pretty much the same as last season…

Cost: $450 plus $25 cash per game for refs

Location: TBD (please email us for updates)

Start Date: Sat Oct 1, 2011

Tipoff times: Anytime on Saturdays you would like, please specify in an email to us. Depending on the scheduling demands of all the teams, we will endeavor to have a pre-set season schedule. Again, it is fully dependent on the teams not making too many one-off scheduling requests.

Format: Dream League NBA-style rules!

Eligibility: See next column over, non-Asians welcome!

Structure:

  • See column to the right for divisions.
  • 6 regular season games.
  • All teams make playoffs.
  • So that means 7 guaranteed games.
  • Single-elimination, two-round playoffs.
  • Playoffs Rd 1: Eliminate to 4 teams.
  • Playoffs Rd 2: Final Four + Champ.
  • Entire season will take 8 weeks (see Calendar below).

If you are looking for double-elimination playoffs, then please signup for the Sunday League.

Calendar (probable):

  • 9/24 – Soft launch: teams can start this week if enough interested.
  • 10/1 – Week 1
  • 10/8 – Week 2
  • 10/15 – Week 3
  • 10/22 – Week 4
  • 10/29 – Week 5
  • 11/5 – Week 6
  • 11/12 – Playoffs Round 1
  • 11/19 – Final Four & Championship

Stats: Yes! It’s a lot easier to do when there’s only 8 or so teams.

BONUS FOR RETURNING TEAMS!!!:

  • Be one of the first 8 teams to pay (minimum $200 deposit) and get $25 off! Yes, $425 entry fee only.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why a shorter season than Dream League Sundays? Why not double-elim playoffs?… The Sunday league will still continue to be the premier league. However, we may change this in the future, if so desired by the teams, and if the teams can bear the cost of the additional games.

Do you still have a restriction to 1pm or later games?…  We no longer have any time restrictions on Saturdays. Our plan is to find a cross-section of tipoff timeframes most amenable to all teams in your divisions. Hopefully it won’t be any earlier than 10am or any later than, say, 7pm (we’ll see). Please email us and we will figure it all out.

Why would I pay the entire franchise fee upfront when I can just pay the $200 deposit only, then the rest at the first game?… Because paying the $200 deposit guarantees your team’s spot in the league. Due to gym constraints, we may need to cap the number of teams at 8 or 9.

What happened to your free jersey offer?… If you’re a team that previously played in our Saturday League, you probably got free jerseys. We cannot afford to keep this program going, and it did help us launch the league with a minimum critical mass of teams. However, we are offering $25 off entry fees for teams that return and are one of the first eight to pay, see below…

Do returning teams get any special privileges?… As mentioned above, if you are a returning captain and are one of the first eight teams to pay, you will get $25 off. Please pay the team deposit of $200 in the right-hand column and email us.

What if I need to voice some other concerns not addressed on this page?… Email us at info(at)dreamleague(dot)org.
